A 22-year-old youth was killed when the car he was riding along with four other youths rammed into a stationary container on NH-33 near Deuri temple under Tamar thana area, about 70 km from Jamshedpur after midnight.
Four others who were in the car sustained serious injuries and were admitted to Tata General Hospital. The slain youth has been identified as Prince Chowbey, a resident of Transport Colony in Adityapur.
On Thursday evening, the prince, son of businessman Umesh Chowbey, attended a friend's 'Tilak' ceremony at Baba Kutir in Adityapur. After the ceremony, his friends decided to go on a long journey, so he accompanied his friends for a drive around midnight on NH-33 and finally met with an accident.
After the car crashed into the dumpster, all five were lying unconscious. A patrolling party rescued them and took them all to a nearby government medical center, where Prince was pronounced dead on arrival.
The police identified the victims from the Aadhaar cards of some of the victims and from the car's registration number. The cell phone of one of the victims eventually led the police to reach the relatives in question. After that, the family members rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Tata main hospital for better treatment.
